Pride in Our Fleet Poster

On Saturday 4 October 1913, the Royal Australian Navy's fleet of seven ships steamed into Sydney Harbour, together for the first time. This public display of the fleet was cause for celebration by a young nation that saw its Navy as a coming of age. The federation had its own independent navy capable of defending Australia and its sea lanes. That very day responsibility for the protection of Australian waters transferred from the Royal Navy to the fledgling R.A.N.
