The Giraffe Agile Multi Beam (G-AMB) radar is a surveillance and tracking radar designed for naval and land-based applications. The Giraffe AMB radar has been delivered on the Canberra Class amphibious ships and to the Australian Army for the force protection role in Afghanistan. In both land-based and naval versions, the radar provides a sense and warn facility enabling protection of friendly forces from rocket, artillery and mortar attacks and, when integrated with appropriate weapons, provides a total Counter Rocket, Artillery and Mortars (C-RAM) capability. The Giraffe AMB is a world leading Ground Based Air and Missile Defence radar that provides High Fidelity Airspace Situational Awareness and cueing data for various missile and gun based Air Defence systems.
